Applications are now being accepted for the Google DeepMind Research Ready Program 2025. The University of Exeter is proud to offer the Research Ready program in collaboration with Google DeepMind. This is a unique eight-week paid summer internship designed to help students excel in an ever-evolving world. Artificial intelligence (AI). This program is your chance to work on cutting-edge research projects, develop advanced technical skills, and build a network of connections with world-class researchers and leaders.

Sponsored by the Department of Computer Science with support from the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Institute (IDSAI), the program is an innovative program that combines rigorous academic instruction, hands-on research, professional development workshops, and real-world impact. We provide a unique experience.

They will recruit 12 students to take part in the program and provide generous bursaries, travel support and free accommodation near their beautiful Streatham campus.

qualification

The University of Exeter’s Google DeepMind Research Ready program is open to current undergraduate students and students with only a bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, or a related technology field.

Required criteria (all required)

You must be UK resident and eligible to pay UK housing costs. You must reside in the UK for the duration of your program and have the right to work full-time. You must be in the penultimate year of your bachelor’s degree or have completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, or a related technical field. Not currently enrolled in or have completed a master’s or doctoral program.

Socio-economic criteria (at least one required)

You are eligible for free school meals during your secondary education. Live in areas that rank in the bottom two deciles according to deprivation indices such as IMD and POLAR. Experienced care from local authorities at all times. We receive full support from the government for maintenance costs during our undergraduate studies.

Selection criteria

Candidates who pass all required criteria and one socio-economic criterion will be evaluated across four categories:

Academic Performance: Marks will be based on the student’s academic performance in the relevant module. Motivation and Potential: You will be scored on your personal statement and letters of recommendation to identify a strong personal drive and commitment to AI research, and alignment with Exeter’s AI research. Equity, diversity and inclusion: Scored to identify students from underrepresented groups, including women, black, Asian, mixed ethnic and minority ethnic students. Socio-economic background: You will be scored on additional socio-economic factors such as financial constraints and access to resources.

At this stage, your application will require your personal and schooling details, a personal statement of up to 8,000 characters including spaces, and details of any academic/professional references.
