Todd Snyder returns to the runway during New York Fashion Week

Todd Snyder loves a runway moment. So menswear designers will return to New York Fashion Week for the second consecutive season in February to present their fall collections.

The show is scheduled for 3 a.m. on February 6, the unofficial Men’s Day. It will be held at the Academy Mansion on East 63rd Street. New York Men’s Day, which showcases emerging designers twice a year, is also held on the same day.

After a four-and-a-half year hiatus, Snyder returned to NYFW in September with an intimate salon-style show at Rockefeller Center’s Le Rock Restaurant. His desire for the catwalk grew even more after he was chosen as a guest designer at Pitti Uomo in Florence last January. There he held a show for 800 people at Leopolda Station, the city’s first railway station, completed in 1848.

“After doing a show in Pitti a year ago, I was again introduced to the process and the rigors that come with doing a show,” he said. “It’s really difficult, but fashion is all about thinking more about what inspires you and taking more risks.”

He said his focus was on growing the strictly direct-to-consumer business from 2020 to 2024. “Since 2020, our business has more than doubled, so we started thinking, “Do we really need a show?” Instead, we are developing more commercial products to continue to grow sales. , but admitted that he “wasn’t thinking that creatively.”

However, after being asked to do a show at Pitti, his heart was reignited and he began to think deeply about why he entered the world of fashion. I wasn’t really thinking about what would sell, but what would sell next. It stretched me. ”

Additionally, hosting runway shows during fashion week allows him to remain at the center of retailers’ attention. The brand currently doesn’t sell wholesale, but Snyder said he expects that to change in the next two years or so. By the middle of this year, the company plans to have 25 stores nationwide.

Snyder said the February show at Academy Mansion will be larger than the one at Le Roque but smaller than the large presentation at Pitti, with 40 to 45 looks expected next month. It is said that it will be unveiled.

He chose this location because it “looks like a prep school in Paris or New York, and this season’s theme is very inspired by school uniforms.” Therefore, you will be able to express your collection in a way that highlights its lines. ”
