American technology giant Meta has apologized for an error in Mark Zuckerberg’s recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast. This came after a veteran Indian politician highlighted Zuckerberg’s mistakes.
Speaking with UFC commentator and podcast mogul Joe Rogan on episode #2255 of JRE (January 2025), Zuckerberg said that allegations of media censorship and misinformation related to the coronavirus have led to public trust in traditional media. is being damaged around the world. Zuckerberg also suggested that current governments in India and many other countries will be replaced by new ones in the post-corona era. Nevertheless, several netizens, including Indian political leader Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasized that Zuckerberg was wrong.

Vaishnaud of the BJP is known for having served as India’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, and Minister of Railways. A former IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer wrote:
“As the world’s largest democracy, India held the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. Indians reaffirm their faith in the NDA led by the leadership of Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji Mr. Zuckerberg’s claim that most current governments, including those in India, have been defeated in the 2024 elections, post-coronavirus, is factually incorrect.
“From free food to 800 million people, 2.2 billion free vaccines, and aid to countries around the world during the coronavirus pandemic, to leading India as a fast-growing leading economy, Prime Minister Modi’s three A decisive victory for the term is a testament to good governance and public trust. @Meta, it’s disappointing to see misinformation from Mr. Zuckerberg himself. Let’s stick to facts and authenticity.”
Shivnath Thukral, director of public policy at Meta India, reacted to Ashwini Vaishnau’s aforementioned post. Mr Thukral appeared to apologize on Mr Mehta’s behalf, writing:
“Dear Honorable Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw, Mark’s observation that many incumbent political parties were not re-elected in the 2024 elections applies to some countries, but not to India. We apologize. India remains a very important country to @Meta and we look forward to being at the heart of its innovative future. ”
