LONDON – British flag carrier British Airways (BA) announced a schedule change ahead of the 2025 summer season, which begins in March 2025. The airline will make changes to its schedule for winter 2025 and summer 2025.
This includes increasing frequency on high-demand routes, decreasing some sectors, and deployment of Airbus A380 aircraft on major long-haul routes. These changes are consistent with the airline’s strategic vision of optimizing the network while meeting increasing passenger demand.

British Airways Summer 2025 Schedule Change
Regarding the schedule change for the summer 2025 season, British Airways has announced a massive expansion to Italy. British Airways is making a major push for Milan Linnate (Lin), the second largest airport in Milan.
Milan is one of Italy’s most important travel hubs. British Airways will also reduce its presence at Milan Malpensa Airport.

Milan’s expansion
London Heathrow (LHR) – Milan Linnate (Lin):
BA is increasing the number of flights per week from 30 flights per week to 47 flights per week. It reflects strong demand for flights to Milan’s urban-centric airport. Linnate’s proximity to downtown Milan is a favourable choice for business travelers. London City (LCY) – Milanolinate (phosphorus):
Flights from London City Airport to Milan Linnate increase from one week to 13 week per week. From almost nonexistent week flights to almost two daily flights, BA has increased significantly between these two cities. London Heathrow (LHR) – Milan Malpensa (MXP):
Meanwhile, BA is reducing the number of weekly flights between Heathrow and Milan Malpensa from 31 to 21 flights per week (from 19 to 19 of the peak months). This reflects a shift in focus on phosnate, which is more convenient for business travelers.

Changes to the Winter 2025 schedule
For the winter 2025 season, British Airways announced adjustments across the long-distance network. Airlines say changes are being made to increase capacity on high-demand routes and optimize schedules to get better efficiency.
British Airways is expanding its services to Riyadh and Bangkok. The airline will deploy high-capacity aircraft in Johannesburg, Dubai and Miami. British Airways will deploy Airbus A380-800 aircraft to meet the growing demand for passengers.
At the same time, select routes such as Doha, San Diego, and Jeddah have seen slight frequency reductions. Airlines want to ensure a balanced network strategy. The airline says these adjustments show their commitment to optimizing operational efficiency while improving connectivity for British Airways

Increased frequency and aircraft upgrades
London Heathrow (LHR) – Riyadh (ruh):
British Airways has significantly increased flights from 7 to 13 per week, reflecting strong commercial demand for travel between London and the Saudi Arabian capital. Saudia will also increase flights from Riyadh to London. Riyadh is an important destination for business travelers and expatriates, and the expansion will provide more flexibility for passengers. London Gatwick (LGW) – Bangkok (BKK):
British Airways doubles its Bangkok service from three to six per week, significantly increasing the ability of travelers to Thailand. Bangkok is a popular destination for both leisure and business travelers, and this expansion ensures better connectivity. London Heathrow (LHR) – Johannesburg (JNB):
British Airways deploys the Airbus A380 on both frequencies. This will significantly increase capacity in one of the busiest South African sectors. Currently, British Airways operates two daily flights to Johannesburg. Currently, there is only one frequency that the A380-800 is displayed. Johannesburg is an important hub for business and tourism, and the increased seating capacity of the A380 increases connectivity. London Heathrow (LHR) – Dubai (DXB):
The BA107/106 service is operated by the Airbus A380 and will meet the high passenger demand in the UK and UAE corridors. Dubai is an important destination for business, tourism and expatriate travel. London Heathrow (LHR) – Miami (MIA):
Another major upgrade: BA207/206/209/208 Flights to Miami will be operated by the A380. Miami is an important leisure and business destination, and the Super Jumbo deployment offers more capacity and comfort on this transatlantic route.

Reducing and adjusting services
London Heathrow (LHR) – Doha (DOH):
Flights will decrease from 14 to 12 per week, reflecting adjustments in demand for services to Qatar’s capital. However, BA continues to maintain strong connectivity to its critical business and transit hub, Doha. London Heathrow (LHR) – San Diego (SAN):
Services to California cities will decline from 14 to 13 per week, with minor adjustments to suit seasonal demand trends. London Heathrow (LHR) – Jeddah (Jed):
The airline will remove weekly flights while adjusting business days. Jeddah remains an important market, particularly for religious travel, but this minor reduction has optimized BA scheduling. London Heathrow (LHR) – Sao Paulo (GRU):
Flights to Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, will decline to 10-7 services, in line with fluctuations in demand in the Latin American market. London Heathrow (LHR) – Houston (IAH) & New Orleans (MSY):
BA trims weekly flights on both routes to ensure efficient operation while maintaining strong connectivity to these US destinations.
Week adjustments will be made on multiple routes, including Baltimore (BWI), Cincinnati (CVG), Tokyo Haneda (HND), Jeddah (JED), Portland (PDX), and Pittsburgh (PIT). .
