Mark Zuckerberg spent billions of dollars in trying to build a computer that people would wear on their faces. It hasn’t happened yet. But Zuckerberg says that 2025 will be a very important year for that technology.

The high -tech giant has been trying to put a computer in his head for many years and to buy that computer. So far, I don’t really know it.

Now, Mark Zuckerberg is trying to find out if people really buy these things in a meaningful number, or if the industry must wait longer for the future.

“This is a decisive year to decide whether we are hundreds of millions and ultimately on the billions of AI glasses. Meta CEO is his company’s revenue call on Wednesday. I said.

Zuckerberg has seen some promising signs that he might have understood it. The sale of meta Ray -Ban extension reality glasses was modest compared to the mainstream high -tech products, but it was a nice surprise for the company. Zuckerberg call them “real hits” in the company’s call.

And last fall, Meta showed an impressive demo version of the Orion Headset. This is a much more powerful computer that looks like an oversized glasses. The company wants to have something that consumers can buy in the next few years.

Meanwhile, the profit of the reality lab unit of the meta sells Ray -Ban with a more troublesome quest goggle, but last year it remained flat. Sales of $ 1.08 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased only 1.1 % compared to the previous year.

Therefore, it does not seem like there was a meaningful increase in the people who buy the device sold by the meta. Until then, the company’s real lab, which once died, has lost more than $ 60 billion in five years.

What will change this year? Zuckerberg did not know the details, but AI believes that AI will make glasses more attractive to more people.

And if it doesn’t happen this year, it will happen … ultimately he claims.

“There are many people in the world wearing glasses,” he said on Wednesday. “It’s a bit difficult to imagine that all glasses are basically not AI glasses more than 10 years from now, and many people who don’t wear glasses today are convenient. I found it.
