Bill Spetch currently serves as Operations Integration Manager for the International Space Station Program. In this role, he is responsible for the overall management and integration of the operational elements of the International Space Station program, with a primary focus on supporting real-time and near-real-time mission execution. As chair of the International Space Station Mission Management Team, Mr. Spech is responsible for all aspects of the execution of the Joint Space Station’s on-orbit program activities, including ultimate authority for decisions beyond the authority of the Mission Control Flight Control Team. He will report to the International Space Station Program Manager.
Mr. Spech brings more than 27 years of experience supporting the space station throughout his career. He most recently served as Vehicle Office Manager for the International Space Station Program, where he was responsible for the health and integrity of the space station, including maintaining commercial elements, conserving and integrating them into the station, and providing real-time engineering support.
Prior to his role as Vehicle Office Manager, he served as the Transportation Integration Office Manager for the International Space Station Program, where he was responsible for space station integration and validation of all visiting vehicles, including commercial cargo replenishment, commercial crews, and international partners. .
Mr. Spech also held the roles of Space Station Mission Integration and Operations Manager, Space Station Transportation Integration Office Deputy Manager, and Space Station Integration Performance Environment and Resources Team Manager. He was appointed Operations Integration Manager for the International Space Station Program on June 2, 2024. Spech holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and mechanics from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
