In a public notice, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) states that products can only be exported as “organic products” if they are accompanied by a transaction certificate (TC) issued by a certification body accredited by a national certification body. said it would be allowed. It added that export of these goods will only be certified if they are produced, processed, packed and labeled according to the standards set by the NPOP.
“The export procedures for certified organic products have been notified,” it added.
The revised NPOP will take effect 180 days after January 5th.
APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), a division of the Ministry of Commerce, has revised the NPOP regulations to make them more farmer-friendly and help India promote organic food exports.
